This item was purchased on December 21, 2018 from Store4PC. I bought it despite reading the reviews and wondering if it is indeed a Gen2 device. Firstly, it seems to me that there are multiple versions with the same model number (DS-UTC2) so you don't know what you're getting until you get your hands on it. There are reviews here that show off the circuit board which is the heart of this device. Mine is significantly different so I've attached a closeup photo showing the PCB version information in mine. If you compare it to previous reviews you will see that all revision numbers start with K3082 followed by the main chip model and the revision number. Although they are all ASMedia chips, mine uses ASM1352R plus 1543 and shows version 4.2. In addition, my circuit is significantly more complex and has more components. I checked the ASMedia website and both the 1352R and 1543 are USB 3.1 Gen2 chips. So if the rest of this circuit is properly designed and manufactured, it is definitely capable of USB 10G speeds. But that's not all. To achieve these speeds on a Windows PC, you need to be aware that only Windows 10 is designed to use Gen2 hardware, while Windows 7 is not. You then need to find a certified Gen2 cable that is actually certified (and note that the certification specs limit the length to around 33 inches) and properly install the certified drivers for all the hardware you are using. All of this indicates that this is not the case. "Considering" that at this point in your USB 3.1 Gen2 adoption, you will ever get anywhere near the advertised speeds. Conclusion: This device supports Gen2!
