I bought an 8-1/2×11 weathered gray frame. When I opened the box I was very happy with what I got saw. It was exactly what I was looking for to frame a St. Patrick's Day graphic I made for my adult son's birthday. Out of the box, oh! The sharp edges of the cut edges pricked my fingers with small splinters. I had to smooth them out - the edges - for him and for me! I am not ready yet. The back of the frame wasn't painted, just raw, very light wood that didn't match the front at all. The same applies to the inner edges that frame the graphic. After putting it together with the graphics and taking it apart a few times, I decided I just couldn't ship it like this. It really bothered me. I went to the hardware store and bought some paint and rags to finish the backing. I was nervous about spills on the inside edges so I didn't touch them. They were a similar color to the ivory paper I used for the graphics, so it worked. It wasn't perfect, but it looked 100% better on the back, which was important if my son wanted it on a table with the back open for viewing. Annoying that I should have thought of that and not the manufacturer. That I had to fork out an additional $11 on consumables, no matter how much it costs for gas, and about an hour and a half more of my time to go to the store, consult the staff, and find a compatible color adds to the disappointment . The actual coloring took about 15 minutes including assembly. I went through all this because I had to send the gift no later than the next day. No time to go back and try to find a suitable replacement. Deals would be crap shooting and a waste of time. Bottom line: this isn't suitable as a gift unless you're willing to put in some work to make it presentable. If you want to hang it on the wall for your own use, that's fine. Just watch out for the shards. TO THE MANUFACTURER: Product deteriorated due to lack of finishing. A little sanding, a little stain, and a little time and effort will improve it greatly and keep discomfort to a minimum.
