While I don't think I've used it properly, it seemed to work well enough to keep my mom's cat from further destroying her couch. It sounds like a sticky layer needs to be peeled off to reveal the second layer, but I was never able to accomplish that. However, the smooth surface seemed to work, and the cat stopped using the sofa's armrests as a secondary scratching post, at least temporarily. The material sheets were fairly easy to attach. We had to trim them down a bit to fit the style of the sofa arms, but it was easy. As I said, I never got to the sticky part on the outside which seems to be the main part, but the smooth surface worked perfectly for this purpose. I might try again with a few different sheets to see if I can get them to work on the other side of the couch. Love the fact that it comes in different sizes so you can choose and like I said we had to cut the sheet to make it work but it was very easy. I'm curious how long the sheet will stick to the sofa!
