I was delighted to buy the original version of these anti slip mats last year. They work great in all slippery conditions, not just mud and snow. I keep the kit in my 2WD minivan for when I'm out in the desert and encountering loose sand and gravel and worst of all wet/wet dirt on the road. a mess at the bottom of a dry lake (I'm talking about Burning Man, folks). It's easy to walk sideways. But I wanted a kit for my 4WD truck. I had a set of hard "pull boards" but found that in some cases their sheer stiffness was detrimental to installation and if you weren't very careful these hard boards will snap! These traction mats cannot break due to their flexibility. They are very easy to install. Now they've improved on an already great product by adding cleats for when you're stuck on hard, slippery ice. Just make sure the spikes are pointing towards the ice and not the tires, and you'll be out of the way faster than calling a tow truck. A service call costs more than a pair of these blankets. The traction itself has also been increased. The earlier version came with two small velcro covers, while this new model has a zip pocket for both, so you can't accidentally lose a blanket. My purchase also came with a pair of good quality work gloves (I was expecting cheap disposable junk). I should also mention that customer support was instant last year when I contacted the seller about a small issue. I recommend a kit in every car. unless you want to wait and pay for a tow truck.
