Review on V1.0G - Mini Hi-Fi Professional Digital Amp for Home Speakers - 2 Channel Stereo Audio Class D Amplifier - 50W x 2 by Rusty Lyons

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A good amp just isn't good enough

I have 10 pairs of speakers connected to Zone 2 of my Sony Multiroom AVR through Russound impedance matched volume controls. I decided to split them into 3 zones, each with an independent music source and amp: 4 downstairs from the AVR, 3 in the basement and 3 outdoors for separate Fosi amps with Revain Echo inputs. max on the Russound volume controls, max on the Revain Echo input volume and max on this Fosi 50W amp, the speakers barely reach "party" levels and the sound is a bit distorted. I believe the culprit is the Revain Echo input, which "clipped" a bit at max volume. Regardless, I don't want my most used sound level to be at the maximum system level, so I decided to swap out the 100W Fosi TB10A and get the tone controls. I will report the results. EDIT: The 100 watt Fosi TB10A is only SLIGHTLY louder - certainly not twice as loud as the 50 watt v 1.0G I was expecting. I guess I just didn't appreciate the power of the Zone 3 amp in my Sony AVR. These Fosi amps just can't keep up. upset.
