Unreliable junk on computer cable adapters

I've tried three of these USB Type-C to VGA/HDMI adapters in the last 8 months. Two different brands including two of them - this one. I'm pretty sure that any that look the same must have been made in the same factory somewhere. They are short-lived and not worth your money or frustration. Extremely bad quality! All worked when they arrived, one lasted 6 months, the other two didn't last and 3 before the signal just stopped going through them and the displays stopped working. Cable Creation sent me a replacement after my first one died. , but unfortunately the replacement died in even less time (less than two months) and it doesn't matter how good your support is when the product is of such low quality. I'm not interested in a third replacement because if they fail it's too much hassle! Good luck to any buyer who needs an adapter solution! I used a decent, more expensive adapter with HDMI, two USBs, Ethernet, and a few other things, and for my other displays, straight-through cables with USB Type-C on one end and HDMI on the other. For now I've given up trying to get VGA to work as all adapters look like this and are probably made to the same spec.

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • Good but not great
