I prefer using olive oil cans as they come in handy when cooking, but they are not exactly economical as they tend to be expensive and have to be reused frequently. , and leave my higher quality EVOO bottle unused and aging. I bought a FAVIA olive oil dispenser bottle in hopes of "killing two birds with one stone" - using my real olive oil and crossing oil sprays off my shopping list. Unfortunately, there are simple design flaws that lead to the almost inevitable drops and chaos. These shortcomings can easily be remedied with simple design improvements, but as it stands the current design lacks "common sense" and as such I cannot recommend this product. In fact, I've already ordered a replacement that uses an atomizer and separate silicone brush. Two major design flaws: 1) the edge where the retractable silicone brush rests on the lid is horizontal; This way the oil stays at the edge and when the brush returns to its original position the oil will be squeezed out/splash leaving a dirty surface. A simple fix would be to tilt the support edge (flange, lip, rim, etc.) down to allow the oil to drain back into the reservoir. Even a few drainage holes would be better than nothing. 2) The nozzle (nose) is also horizontal. why not even point at a slight angle? It's called "gravity" and "air pressure", designers! Again, returning the brush to its original position will push the air out of the nozzle, and its horizontal position will cause oil droplets to flow/splash out. Even a careful insertion of the brush into the cover does not prevent a possible drop of oil from simply dripping by gravity. A simple up position would greatly reduce this effect. Finally, and this is a disadvantage that goes beyond design, there is a serious problem of cross-contamination. It only dawned on me when I was using my FAVIA Olive Oil Dispenser Bottle when grilling burgers for the BBQ - the brush was able to move away from contact with the raw meat and back into the container of olive oil. I'm not a scientist or a chef, but I didn't really like it (especially since we're getting more and more used to thinking about microbes in times of Corona). I washed the brush with hot soapy water before drying it with a paper towel and only then put the brush back in the case. -- call me fussy if you like, but that's not my idea of convenience at all. Couple that with the fact that I always wipe down the bottle, countertop and rest area of the bin after each use - another shout out to my science teachers, as we all know using a wet towel doesn't really help. that too, right? Despite my criticisms, the FAVIA Olive Oil Dispenser Bottle doesn't deserve a single star - it's a good idea and simple design changes can make it a 4 star product; However, cross-contamination certainly requires some major re-engineering and perhaps this whole breed of product concept is simply not feasible from a food safety standpoint. As it stands, I cannot recommend this product.
