I used to have fancy 2.0 computer speakers. After getting a laptop with a small plug-in subwoofer, I decided fancy speakers were overkill for my use case: YouTube videos and calls. For higher demands like movies and music, I use headphones for better soundstage, fidelity, and noise isolation. So for most use cases this is fine. Mono is better than 2.0 for videos that mix up audio channels or only play on one side. And the volume is increasing. I could even settle for something smaller, but it's not overly impressive. Now I've plugged it into my monitor's 3.5mm jack and it beats the monitor's built-in speakers by a mile. The reason I use the monitor connector is that it acts as a receiver and I can use the speakers whether I'm showing a desktop or laptop through the monitor without having to switch the Z50 connector between multiple computers. There's no volume control, but it's probably for the better; Plug and play and forget not to confuse anything.
