Review on ๐Ÿถ Advanced Dog GPS Tracker by Petgent - Real-Time Location & Activity Monitoring - Extended Tracking Device - No Monthly Fees, APP Controlled, Radio Signal for Suburban Camping, Rural Hiking & Farm Life by Brittany Reed

General Purpose, Medium Power

Background: My comments are based on using the Petgent system for several months hunting hounds that travel 50-300 yards on any terrain, bumping into bush and using them fairly harshly. I have a top of the line Garmin Alpha 200i system that I was hoping to use less frequently, with the Petgent system as a partial replacement. Unfortunately I'm staying with Garmin. Pros: 1) Petgent offers good tech support, 2) map overlay on your phone is good (zoom etc) and accurately shows your position on the ground, 3) very easy to launch multiple devices and name each one for your dogs/ to create dog avatars, 4) The transmitters are very small and light weight so they can be easily attached to most dogs and usually work with imo less active dogs. Cons: 1) you'll probably want to somehow attach the silicone cover of the GPS transmitter unit to the dog's collar as there is a risk that it will come off under extreme use, 2) the fastest system update is every 10 seconds, so if your dog walks a lot and fast, its actual location can be quite far from its advertised location which is always delayed by 10 seconds (or more), 3) after 30-40 minutes of use my battery life has dropped to around 80% which means you are careful must be if you plan to use this system all day as you may be very low on power. 4) I have found that the bluetooth function is slow to start up every day, 5) I don't believe the transmitters are completely waterproof which can cause problems depending on whether your dogs are walking, swimming in wet fields etc.
