The 'instructions' were ridiculous. Apparently they went through a very bad English translator and were barely coherent. At best, the instructions say you plug it in so things seal, then unplug and let cool. There is no mention of a switch with numbers on the inside of the iron under the plates, which I found to be an on/off switch (no temperature control as the numbers suggest). There is also no indication of what types of materials are suitable for caulking. I've found out the hard way that thinner plastic, even previously soldered plastic, can fuse to metal panels. However, it came off fairly easily by pinching the paper with the iron, causing the melted plastic to stick to the paper and separate from the plates. When I used it on a bag of chips and a heavier plastic bag it sealed perfectly.
