. because I'm paranoid. It worked fine but I was growing my plants so I just add pure ammonia to feed the bacteria and change the water from time to time. It has no suction unless what it is is floating right on the sponge, but I shake the water before pumping it out to get rid of the dirt. Lots of superficial excitement. I had to drive my plants because they were scattered everywhere. I could take one and I'm fine, but plan on overfilling my tank a bit.
