Easy to read in the dark and the screen is big enough for me. Comfortable to hold. I measured a calibrated oven at 1780 degrees on the coils and had less than 1/2 degree off. The instructions are really good with a table for all sorts of things. Made me feel like I got my money's worth. The only thing I can call a possible deal breaker is if you have to read the screen at an angle of 30 degrees or more. Anyway, I don't know about the rest. That's all I could ask for. I bought it to test around the house but ended up taking it to work and then bringing it back to the kitchen. You can turn the laser on or off. I haven't used the tripod mount yet, but I like that it's there if I ever need it.
