Fantastic lens, GET DIR

I shoot with the Canon T5 which has a crop sensor so I did quite a bit of research on wide angle lenses before buying this one. Since I mainly shoot landscapes, I wanted to add wide-angle lenses to my lens collection. I switched between several lenses, including one of Canon's cheapest wide-angle lenses, but finally settled on this lens because f/2.8 was the best I could find for a wide-angle lens. I wanted something that would go well with shooting stars and Milky Way shots, but would still give me some dynamic landscape shots. I am very happy with the purchase of this lens! First of all: right out of the box it looks like a quality lens. It's quite heavy, which can be uncomfortable when hiking, but still such a minor downside that I don't want to complain. The only other comment I have on this is how darn difficult it is to pop the lens hood on and off. It was so tight that the first time I tried it I was afraid something would break. It just takes some getting used to. I have taken this lens on several trips, the largest being a spring break trip to Yosemite stopping at Lake Tahoe, Point Reyes, San Francisco, Sequoia, Zion and Bryce. I actually promoted this thing during this trip and was very happy with the results. Images are crisp and colorful, and the quality is immediately apparent. Dynamic landscape shots are created if you deal with them a little creatively. Shooting panoramas wasn't difficult. Pictures in the sun with this lens are AMAZING, I was shocked. This lens caught on with the Sequoia and allowed me to take pictures that others had to take as panoramas. I cited astrophotography as the reason for purchasing this lens. Although I haven't had a chance to take photos of the Milky Way yet, I've used it to take star trail photos that turned out great. I'm very excited to try the Milky Way. I see many people saying this is their favorite lens now. Although this lens is absolutely better than the kit lens in terms of quality and sharpness and is by far my favorite lens, it is by no means the lens I use on my camera. It's very wide, so of limited use unless you're just shooting landscapes (and even then I'm happy to use an 18-55mm lens. It's almost too wide at times!).
