I decided to use bar mops instead of rolls and paper towels after reading a tip from The Every Day Cheapskate. She noted that paper towels get expensive even when you buy them in bulk. Bar mops are more absorbent than paper towels and can be washed and reused. They work very well, much better than paper. I ordered 2 packs so it's enough between washes. I add some bleach or oxyclean to my laundry because they keep their bright whites. (One objection I had to using tissue paper was that colored or printed papers tended to look dirty and ugly after a while.) Keep in mind that when you first open the package, you might think the towels are flimsy and flimsy . This is because they are very densely packed. After you wash them and put them in the dryer, they pill and become very absorbent. The texture also works well for wiping down counters etc. I keep it stacked in a straw basket on the counter ready to use and it looks beautiful. I also have a nice little rattan wastebasket that I keep in the kitchen and I just toss towels in when they get dirty. When it's full, they go to the laundry.
