Very cool! Now to find a use for it.

I love gadgets and adore hardware TP-Link Kasa. However, this is my first experience with the Kasa light strip and it started off badly. The first device I received had incompatible connectors between the lightstrip and the controller. I kept asking myself what I was doing wrong and how could a quality manufacturer like TP-Link go wrong with such a basic design element? Revain could get a replacement faster than I could go through nagging tech support emails that always start with the default assumption that I'm doing something wrong. The first question they ask is to send pictures of the two connectors, which I tried when I made the first request, but the TP-Link support site doesn't accept pictures at the time of submission. A whole day was spent on this. As expected, the replacement unit came faster than the second tech support response. This time the connectors worked together and one of them was actually different than the first device received. The notable difference was the V1.0 hardware controller in the first batch compared to the V1.8 in the second. One star off for poor quality control. But I have to say that the second block worked very well! The light strip is bright and colorful. The "White" setting is pretty good, but doesn't have high white light quality (which is normal given the intended use cases for the product). My only complaint is that when the light bar transitions between colors, the transitions can feel a bit distracting during fast transitions. You don't get DMX-like smoothness here (nor are you paying a DMX-like price, so that's fine). I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do with this light strip. The woman does not like turning the living room into a disco. But I'll come up with something.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • I'll write later
