Review on ๐ŸŒ Enhance Internet Range and Speed with NETGEAR WNDR3300 RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router by Justin Castro

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Wow! surprised! in routers

First time using the dual-band Apple Airport Extreme. Limited configurability and wired ethernet connection that drops every few days to my MacBook Pro. Had to unplug and plug the ethernet cable back in to connect. Then came the D-Link n Dual Range. There was also a problem with the ethernet cable. Added an issue that caused my wireless devices to suddenly lose their secure connection and prompt me to re-enter the WPA key. It was VERY annoying. Now I got this Netgear with low expectations as it costs 1/2 the price of others. On the downside, it doesn't have as many configuration options as d-link, and setting up my static IP computers, NAT tunnels, etc. wasn't as smooth. And there were arbitrary restrictions, such as B. the ability not to forward port 80 (for some reason they don't want that). Another issue are the pesky lights on the top that blink when the antennas are active, but you can turn this off by clicking the top dome (unfortunately they light up again every time you visit the router's configuration page) , BUT - that's fixed. Other serious problems I had (wired internet was gone and WPA keys were gone). It works stably for about 2 weeks without restarting it or connected devices. my setup is a pair of macbook pro (wired and wireless) ipad/ipod touch/iphone (wireless) panasonic webcams (wired) tivo (wired) slingbox (wired) 2 windows xp (wireless) game adapter (converts wireless n-signal to ethernet to allow old non-wireless emacs to connect to the network away from cat-5 cables) ibook g3 (white) - web server port 80

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Ok for the most part, but...
