Review on SlydLock Fireplace Nook TV Mount: Versatile and Secure Solution for 32-80" Plasma/LCD/LED Screens by Mike Groover

Highly recommended for mounting on the front side of the corner!

Just what I needed to hang our 60" TV on a 2000 TV corner! I remember that these corners were fashionable in the 90s. Early 2000s but now that big flat screens are the norm this is giving me a big headache! I spent hours looking for a solution, thinking I'd have to resort to framing and drywall to completely cover the corner, until I stumbled. I bought it back and forth because of the price, but I'm glad I did as it solved our problem with a lot less work! For example, we have room for a fireplace, but where we wanted our TV nook was 24 inches deep and it would have been impossible to use that type of mount. What's unique about it is the brackets ("wings") that allow you to put screws in the side of the corner rather than the back panel. One thing I noticed is that we have a slight crease in the mount when our TV is installed. Of course, it won't flex on its own, but we did notice a slight movement when a child slammed a door or a ceiling fan was running at high altitude and moving a lot of air. I believe this is because the maximum allowable width for this setup needs to be met. The width of our corner was 48 inches, while the maximum allowed width is 52 inches. This is more annoying than anything and I intend to fix OCD. A simple solution is to run a support from the fixture to the back wall of the corner. This will do the double duty of keeping all my cord cleaning out of sight off the wall. In addition, the instructions are simple and easy to follow, they even include a formula for determining the installation height to take the guesswork out. All that was needed for the installation were ordinary hand tools. All equipment was included and of decent quality. The mount itself has fixtures for leveling and securing the TV to the mount. The lock was a handy feature and children could never remove the TV from the bracket and also made it more difficult to steal. Interestingly, the mount is a simple tinted wall mount. What makes this kit unique are the "wings" that attach to the side instead of the back. Carolina Custom Sound supplies the wings and the mount itself is made by Strong. This does not affect the functionality of this mount but may be of interest to those looking at this mount.

Pros
  • TV ceiling and wall brackets
Cons
  • A newer model could have been chosen

Expensive but worth it.
