Like many others, my employer gave me a laptop and told me to work from home when Covid hit. Well, I already had a Scentsy store at home where my office was outfitted with my Scentsy laptop, a second monitor, keyboard and mouse. Then I set up the laptop that was provided to me to work with, using the docking station that was provided to me, and connected everything to my monitor, keyboard, and mouse. The problem then became that I'm lazy. I hated switching cables multiple times a day every day to be able to switch between laptops and have the convenience of a second monitor, mouse and keyboard. I didn't have room for two complete sets. So I just stopped using the setup for my Scentsy business. I would just use my laptop as a laptop. But I hated it. So I went looking for something that would allow me to have 2 different laptops - completely separate so I can easily switch between them - but still be able to use a second monitor, keyboard and mouse without any cables whatsoever to move. I found the device on startech.com but it said something about sharing files between two laptops. Because of the security of my job, I couldn't have file sharing, or even the ability to do so. That's why I called StarTech.com an annoying person who knows enough about technology to be dangerous but not knowledgeable enough to be annoying. The technical support was INCREDIBLE. The guy didn't make me feel stupid. He listened to my situation. He was very knowledgeable about the products and what would suit me and he guided me to this product. It was EXACTLY what I needed. It works with a dock I need to use for my work laptop and it works with my Scentsy laptop. It was very easy to set up and now when I want to switch from work to my Scentsy Business, I press a button. Change the second monitor, keyboard and mouse - just like that - to any system! And - bonus - the other system is still running - so I can actually run both systems at the same time - I just can't use the second monitor, mouse and keyboard at the same time. It has made my life SOOOOOOOOO much easier because I can work both individually and from different laptops. The technical support was some of the best I have ever experienced. I am SO HAPPY with this product! I wish it had more USB ports so I can connect my speakers to it. It has 2 USB ports but I use them for mouse and keyboard. It has old ports that old mice and keyboards used to have. So if I were to upgrade to one of these, I would free up a port for my speakers. but it's so small that it doesn't bother me at all. My speakers are connected to my work laptop's docking station and I can turn them on when needed while I'm working on my Scentsy laptop. If I want to zoom in with Scentsy or something else, I just turn off the laptop's speakers and microphone. Product 5 stars, technical support 5 stars!
