Works with AudioArts R12 console

It was difficult to find backup indicators for older devices, especially radios. I noticed an increasing number of LED fuses and scallops in the antique HiFi market, which prompted me to try them out. We have some old AudioArts (Wheatstone) R12 consoles that use old 5V fuses. The DC supply is 5.2 volts from an external power supply and is fed separately to the sensor bridge so there is no way to easily convert these fuses to more common voltages like 30 volts. Although these bulbs are rated for 6 volts, I decided to take a chance and try them out. While temperature has nothing to do with the orange-amber look of incandescent bulbs, these lights tend to look a brighter amber and actually breathe new life into the volume meters, making them brighter and slightly easier to read. They definitely have more lumens than incandescent bulbs. These fuses are typically 28mm long and are not supplied in a glass tube. You may need to cut out one side of the meter body where the light enters (I do this with wire cutters and a needle to snap off a mm of plastic on one side to make installing the light easier). ) Make sure your light is pointing towards the front of the meter. The scatter is good, there are no hotspots. This is the best LED replacement I've tried for these consoles. The price isn't bad, so if you don't have a lot of consoles this could be an economical solution. Lightbulbs are expensive (if you can find them), the last batch I bought was back when MCM was still in business, you can still get them in Newark for about $1 a lightbulb, but they don't last long . So LED is the best solution. Even though the color of the light is wrong, the guys told me they prefer the more yellow light to the orange bulb. Mine have been in the console for a few months now and are picking up steam.
