It's practically part of the Plumbers Union "uniform" so I had a lot of these. I bought a couple of these from Amazon and both were different in quality to the ones I bought in the store. I don't know if they sent an inferior quality to Amazon or it was just dumb luck, but the hinges were very stiff and "gritty" as they normally slide in the open position and close smoothly. I've been using this model for 20 years so give it a try again especially since Amazon is so good at handling returns. I know that like many other brands, Lufkin was taken over by a conglomerate and the quality DEFINITELY suffered as a result. corporate greed and such.
