Too many design flaws, just buy a traditional style metal gate

We bought two of these gates to cover large openings in our living room (>60 inches). The two walls where we installed the gate are not parallel to each other. Problems we ran into: 1. Gates are really only designed for parallel or nearly parallel walls. Even if we could properly adjust the gate at an entrance, it would not "lock" properly. due to the odd angle and the fact that the locking mechanism is actually just a hook holding the gate open. , but here we face another problem due to poor construction: there are baseboards in our walls, which in itself is not a problem, except that the extension brackets only allow the locking hook to be mounted in one direction, meaning we couldn't easily Flip the latch hook to accommodate our non-parallel walls. We tried to work around this design flaw, but in the end we found that we couldn't properly install the gate by attaching it to the baseboard. If we installed the gate over the baseboard there would be a 6 inch gap between the gate and the floor which would in no way prevent our 10 month old boy from crawling under it. 3. The retractable design is good in my opinion. only in theory, the problem for us was that the tension was too weak, even with correct assembly, without a gap at the bottom, our daughter was able to squeeze under the grille by simply lifting from the bottom up, also with locking function . In the end we got both gates back and bought traditional metal gates which are much stronger.
