I have an 02 TJ X with a factory subwoofer on the center console. Basically you pull out the factory speaker, connect the red and black wire to the new speaker, ignore the other two wires, cut the gap and use self tapping screws to mount it. When you pull out the factory speaker, there is a plastic mold there. Lines touching the back of the speaker. You need to cut it with side cutters or a dremel. I have a dremel and it took about 5 minutes. Basically, trim until the speaker is flush. You will also need two connectors to connect your new speaker. These will be red, which will be plugged onto the spade connector. If you have an aftermarket radio and are having trouble connecting the speaker, make sure the blue wire on your radio's wiring harness is connected to the signal wire so the factory amplifier is powered. The speaker sounds great. It's no rear-view mirror vibrating bass, but it does deliver some much-needed factory-tuned bass. I thought about installing 10 inches behind the back seat but I think I'm happy with it. It's definitely worth breaking down the tools to do this.
