The bowl is oversized but still fits nicely in the butter compartment on my fridge door. The mold is longer and wider than a regular stick of butter, so the butter doesn't rub against the lid, and there's even a little more room for the small stick of butter from the previous stick. Aside from being attractive, I really appreciate the crystal texture of the cover. It gives me something to grab when I lift the lid, much better than the smooth glass it replaces. I am happy about this purchase. ------ Updated March 28, 2020 I wrote a previous review about this butter dish that I bought as a gift for a relative. When I needed a new oiler, I ordered the same one. All awards remain valid. However, I removed 3 stars from my rating because it is NOT a crystal. It's heavy glass and beautiful, but it's sold as something it isn't. The box it comes in calls it an oil can without specifying what it's made of. The seller's label attached to the box states that it is a crystal, which is misleading at best. Buyers beware, if you want crystal keep looking. If you want a nice, heavy <i>glass</i> butter mold, this should work. I will not be returning it as I like the design. However, I am annoyed by the misleading listing and disappointment that it is not crystal.
