I was looking for a NEW wired router for my small network (2 PCs). I thought I had found the perfect solution with a Netgear rp614V2 bought in January 2011 until I tried to register my NEW router and realized it was from 2005. Then I found that I couldn't get firmware updates when I started getting some weird crashes where I couldn't connect to the internet. I'm using the factory defaults and have noticed that DHCP doesn't always update a computer's IP address on the network. If I turn off the router and network cable on the PC, then turn the router back on and reconnect the PC cable, I can connect to the internet again. I would NOT buy this router if I knew it was made in 2005 and I could NOT get firmware updates for it. I think I'll buy a NEW 2010 or 2011 wireless and wired router, although I don't need a wireless connection so I can update the firmware if I run into problems. newer version of Fireware 5.20 and install it. There were several issues in the original 5.13 release that were fixed in 5.20. Purchasing this upgrade to 5.20 before using the router will fix my problems.
