The lens is very rigid and the barrel does not slide smoothly. Pros: Huge range, reasonable price, good build quality, optical stabilization, quiet autofocus, fast focusing in good light. I took it to a baseball game with my kids and the range was very comfortable and the pictures came out well. Cons: The lens zoom is stiff (unreasonably hard), heavy, and not as compact as I expected. I bought it before a beach vacation and this lens has never left the hotel room. I mounted the lens on my A7R and with the lens hood it's about 9 feet long at 24mm and 13 inches at 240mm. You cannot carry a camera with a lanyard. I wouldn't recommend this for videos as zooming out is an issue (due to the stiffness).
