Review on πŸŽ™ iTalkie - Wireless Bluetooth PTT Speaker Microphone for Improved Zello PTT Communication by Darrell Shreves

Poor audio transfer in CB and radio equipment

Overall this is a decent form factor but I wouldn't recommend this mic for a number of reasons. upside down. The up pointer shape is "Volume Down" and the down pointer shape is "Volume Up" (and they even have minus and plus symbols - the up shape is labeled "minus" and the "down" shape is labeled "plus"). This is a confusing but minor bug that I could fix on my own. 2 - You need to install a second application (iTalkieDaemon) to manage the hardware buttons and make Zello available. which can consume more CPU and battery. I can't say for sure that my phone has been very sluggish the last day since I installed everything. 3 - The speaker itself is insanely loud. I personally don't like this behavior. At just 1/2 volume, it fills the room with volume. 4 - The biggest problem is the distorted quality of the transmitted sound. When I use the echo test channel to hear myself, the sound quality is overloaded and distorted. I have to hold the mic at arm's length to reduce distortion and then it sounds like I'm speaking into a tin can. I'm not getting the best sound and have been playing around with all the Zello settings to try and tweak it. Basically, it's just the microphone electronics that are very "hot". You may like it, but I find my recorded audio to sound terrible. Also, every time you release the PTT button, there's a loud, hopping "click" that's recorded and broadcast at the end of the transmission. In other words, every time you speak to someone, this mic will clip and sound like you're yelling directly. into the microphone, a loud click is heard at the end of the transmission. As a listener, I don't want to hear that and I won't leave it. This sounds worse than the regular Zello audio I hear.
