Truly excellent in many ways. The limited volume and playfulness of the cat ears motif was just what I was looking for for my daughter. She loves these headphones and uses them with her Kindle almost every day, although we have pretty strict time limits. There weren't any complaints about the convenience, and it doesn't increase the volume because the sound is pretty clear. The problem was that a 2 1/2 year old can be quite rude if he takes them off when the allotted time is up. She had a bad habit of stretching them too far (almost twice the width of her head) to take them off and managed to break the frame just before her 3rd birthday. Unfortunately, the middle section of the headband has a weak point at the hinge where the bottom half can break. After this happened, I bought her another set of non-cat ear headphones that were a more durable design. They had almost the same color scheme and bright backlight, but she immediately noticed the lack of cat ears. Cat ears in her words. Well that's to be expected and a new pair should be a backup once I've successfully repaired the broken part. Why not just buy a new pair of the same headphones, you ask? While the price is low enough to waste time looking for a repair, it's not necessarily worth my time, I just couldn't send more plastic to the landfill or hope a new pair will last longer. So I corrected them. After the repair, I returned them to the place we took to charge. My daughter found them herself right away and hasn't used another pair since. She is more careful with them after losing them for weeks. So, despite the fact that I had to come up with a fix, these headphones are very popular. This is because they are easy to use and very attractive to the little person. They're losing a star for making me work a little. To speak to the fix. This is very desirable, but without guidance, I had to take my time not to make anything worse. The plastic paneling next to the hinge can be removed with some care, see attached pictures. The top cover prevents the hinge pin from slipping out. Once removed, the pin can be easily pushed out. I could only partially lift the lid off the bottom half of the hinge. This allowed me to glue the broken pieces together. Since the bottom cap creates a seam where it snaps over the broken part, I also taped it on to strengthen the connection. To be honest, I'm a bit surprised that the manufacturer still doesn't do this. As far as I could tell, the cover should not have been removed. I recommend taping this seam for nimble parents who want them to last a little longer. The material is likely ABS and the appropriate adhesive can bond at the molecular level. I have a DAP fast acting fuse blown.
