Review on πŸƒ Ultimate Performance with Pearl Izumi Men's Pro Inrcool Tri Shorts by Brian Malith

Great shorts - life expectancy could be better

I am buying two pairs of these shorts as original equipment for a set that I will be training in and using for my first triathlon. I'm glad I got an extra pair because after 500+ miles of driving in a month and multiple wash cycles (gentle cycle, cold water, hang dry) they're already out. The fabric is a woven synthetic mesh and is very thin. Doesn't handle friction well. The fabric around the seams in the crotch shows signs of wear after a month of use (three rides a week of 20-80 miles plus 103 hours). I tied a jacket around my waist on a rain ride during a drought and a velcro ripped a hole in my shorts on one session. Be careful what you sit on - it should be a smooth surface (like a bike saddle) if you plan on having the pants seat last - anything else (like concrete or rough wood) will tear the fabric if you put it in or out turn twice. (no exaggeration). I would only recommend using them for racing if you want to look cool. Otherwise very comfortable shorts. The suede works pretty well (add cream since it's not full-size suede - it's definitely a "three" suede for short rides, but if you have time to "break in" the butt, work her. No saddle sores, even after 6 hours in these ). I'm 5ft 11", 193lbs, 30" waist, I'm medium height. They fit perfectly. Use the lighter on the "nylon scuffs" that will certainly show with use - doesn't seem to affect the rest of the shorts adversely and certainly looks better than a pair of torn nylon shorts. This range holds up to a lighter trick even after a wash or five.
