Just ordered a new Hot Pink Stunt Puppy Go Dog Glo Dry Dog Collar, 5 years, 3 months, 23 days after the first one. DO NOT replace due to malfunction! What do you give a dog who has everything for his birthday - dog decoration! The original collar shown in the photos will go into your desk drawer as a fully functional replacement part. The Stunt Puppy Collar swims at least once a day for the equivalent of five years. Swimming is why we looked for an odor proof collar. Earlier woven collars never had a chance to dry out so not only did the collar stink, but old fashioned collars left the hair under the collar wet so yeast could grow and it started to stink adding a dog smell. Although the collar is not entirely odor free, we never washed or cared for it while wearing it in 1942. Nylon(?) buckles are now as functional and flexible as anything I've ever had on expensive backpacks and camera bags. . They have not become brittle with time or UV rays from the sun. The reflective strip is a great design feature and has similar if not the same reflectivity as the 3M SOLAS Safety Of Life At Sea standards as set out in an international maritime treaty. The reflective part is applied/moulded/dyed to the material of the collar and the parts that have been in heavy contact or friction with parts of the buckles for 46,608 hours wear quite acceptable and is to be expected. The dog isn't big enough to drink from the stone fountain we have, so the part of the collar that rubs against the fountain is also a bit worn. Flexibility - in the 3rd picture the collar is loosely wrapped around the buckle. in the middle and settled down to relax under their own "spring". You can see the shape memory in the material of the collar where it has had to be changed due to age and less movement. It didn't seem to affect wear or comfort for the dog.
