I used this to power my Aukey DVR. I liked that it was hardwired but I had a USB port for the DVR. I specifically wanted to use this type of hardwiring since my Aukey DVR is capacitor based so the camera doesn't get power when I turn off the motor. I can't have a backup battery because I live in extreme heat, hence the capacitor-based DVR. Well, when I'm not in hot weather, I can just unplug the dash cam (because it's a USB port) and plug in the power adapter to record while I'm out of the car. Aside from that, This gives me an extra USB port for charging electronic devices. I routed the cables to the glove box so now my glove box has a free USB port when opened. My only minor complaint was that the positives and negatives were very short. I had to remove the rubber sleeve to separate the plus and minus. Look at the picture and you will understand what I am talking about. I don't know why people wouldn't want to connect their devices this way because it gives people the option to use an extra USB port for juice if needed.
