I used to pay more for one and it couldn't handle 3.3v. They can handle either 3.3V or 5V. I didn't have to install anything on my computer On Windows 10, the device was immediately recognized as a COM port when connected. They also "wrapped" the exposed portion of the circuit board to reduce the chance of a short circuit. I wish they had a USB extension cable with them so I don't have to find/buy one (about $3). All in all a good buy.
