One of them is best fried in computer cable adapters

So they work for me Mac Pro and ESP-32 CAM. The only problem I had was that one was fried. I'm not sure how it happened, but now he's dead. The second one still works. It may be my fault, I may have trimmed the one I fried. So I buy another set and see how long my second one lasts. I also like them, the board is shrink wrapped so I don't shorten it by feel.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons

has anyone gotten this to work on a mac?

I tried different scripts and drivers but couldn't get it to work on macOS 10.15.6/Catalina. I don't see any USB or serial devices in /dev to direct to the screen. I have tried the following drivers:๏„• Mac_OSX_VCP_Driver๏„• PL2303_MacOSX_1_6_0๏„• FTDIUSBSerialDriver_v2_3 Do you have any idea about the manufacturer of this card or the required drivers? Appreciate the help!

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

Great price - and they work

I used to pay more for one and it couldn't handle 3.3v. They can handle either 3.3V or 5V. I didn't have to install anything on my Windows 10 computer, the device was immediately recognized as a COM port when connected. They also "wrapped" the exposed portion of the circuit board to reduce the chance of a short circuit. I wish they had a USB extension cable with them so I don't have to find/buy one (about $3). All in all a good buy.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure

Helped restore a bricked Wi-Fi router

I made a stupid mistake flashing OpenWrt on a brand new Wi-Fi router I received yesterday, turning it into a useless brick has transformed. After learning that the router motherboard has a UART serial port that has GND, RX and TX connections and thus can be used for disassembly, I searched for a UART cable and found it the cheapest and most promising choice. The operating system on my Fedora Linux 5.15.6 kernel machine had no problem recognizing the device. The cable handled a serial connection

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • I have doubts

Doesn't work at all

I bought it to flash the firmware on the router (via the serial pins on the board). Tried them on FOUR different machines, THREE different operating systems and different serial applications. ***NONE*** of them worked with those useless pieces of silicon. Having two of these, I tried them in a loopback configuration, thinking that if they worked I'd get an answer from my own computer. Tried swapping TX and RX in case the boards were mislabeled. NOTHING. If I plugged that into the router, theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Decent performance
