This thermometer worked great at first. I didn't have a thermometer beforehand, so I checked the internal temperature of the meat rather than cutting it into chunks to check doneness. I also make yogurt out of it. It provides accurate temperatures quickly and is very easy to use. My problem with this product is that it stopped working after several washes. Battery compartment opened and corrosion found. I have never submerged the thermometer in water but hand washed it in the sink. It seems that the battery compartment needs to be better designed to prevent water ingress since the entire device needs to be washed. Edit 4/23/17: The seller contacted me after writing this review. They offered a replacement as it is still under warranty. I will of course be more careful that no water gets into the device; It may be best to just rinse the probe under the tap and then wipe the handle/display with a damp cloth or Clorox wipe. I am very happy with their customer service.
