Check your settings
Connected to an old Bose AV receiver so it could be connected to a modern TV but it didn't work. Before going back I tried the converter on an old VCR and it worked fine(?). I accidentally messed around with the Bose settings and found that it's set to progressive scan (so the TV can't interpret the signal). In a nutshell. , after changing the settings on the Bose, the picture worked fine. My advice, if that doesn't work, check your AV or TV settings before going back.
