Got this converter when I got my new Smart TV. My old TV had a lot of RCA and HDMI jacks. My new TV only has 2 HDMI. Didn't want to change my old DVD player as it still works very well. It wasn't possible to hook it up until I got this little guy. I can also connect my Wii which my niece loves. Got 2 in 1 of these. Very happy with this purchase

The photo shows a normal S-Video connector on the left and its on the right. Note the notches at the top of the outside of the left side that are missing from the rounded outside of the right side. It cannot be plugged into a regular S-Video jack. This makes it unusable for S-Video. I want my money back. It's not as advertised.

Connected to an old Bose AV receiver so it could be connected to a modern TV but it didn't work. Before going back I tried the converter on an old VCR and it worked fine(?). I accidentally messed around with the Bose settings and found that it's set to progressive scan (so the TV can't interpret the signal). In a nutshell. , after changing the settings on the Bose, the picture worked fine. My advice, if that doesn't work, check your AV or TV settings before going back.

This HDMI to RCA adapter with RCA and S-Video cable works great for our purposes. I wanted to record programs from my Firestick and needed an adapter for my Panasonic DVD recorder. I couldn't get it to work at first, which may have been my fault, but I got an HDMI splitter and that seemed to fix the problem.
