I use it for ice fishing and made the mistake of fishing the same hole this camera was lowered into. I ended up with a hot knot mess and lost the fish. I recommend using a nearby hole aimed at your fishing hole. Also, I've only had luck with night vision when the water is very clear, so I use it a lot more during the day. I find it easy to use and worth the money. I think the only reason I wouldn't recommend this is if you use it mostly at night in not very clean water.
