Protective covers worked great. The bent end was bent too far or too long, leaving the tip sticking out about 3/16 inch over the edge of the tub, but that wasn't a complaint. It's not really the product's fault, we just have a tub with a narrow (2-1/2 inch wide) top rail. The clear seal included in the package was easy to use. To install the parts, I started by placing them where they would fit best, and then running painter's tape about 1/8" from the edges along the surface of the tub and walls (to avoid over caulking I then applied painter's tape to the edges of plastic parts for the same purpose. After applying a 1/8" bead of sealant/sealant to the mating surfaces of the guard, I pressed it between the contours of the masking tape and rode along ran your finger along each edge to evenly smooth the sealant. A few minutes later (before the sealer had set) I carefully peeled the masking tape off the walls and tub leaving a nice even line on the sealant. I waited 24 Hours (after the caulk dried) to remove the masking tape from the plastic guards, there was some cured caulk left but I was able to carefully cut it off the guard with an X-Acto knife.
