Maybe it was just my product but it's definitely not meant for the 4th gen iPad Air. The stylus connects and charges on the right side of the iPad (the side where the camera is located, the side where Touch ID is located). Although the Apple Pencil slot is on the left side, the stylus does not charge when stored. Therefore, to charge it, you need to take the iPad out of the case and charge it, then put the case back on to protect it. I'm just shocked that nobody else has had this problem. It's a beautiful case, educational, light, the blue color is very pretty, but it's absolutely useless to me if I can't charge the pencil in the case. Hope this helps someone!
