I used the Harbor Freight version for about two years and then decided I wanted to try the 'real thing' . The clean tool was $74 at Revain, which was the right price. However, when I received it, the tool was dirty - like someone had used it before. It wasn't bad, but when you buy a 'new' instrument it should look pristine. It didn't look like that. Also, as mentioned, I had problems with the collet. In my case, a 3/32 collet was installed, so I figured I could finally use it by switching. When I turned it on I had a flap grinder installed and it was running at 10,000rpm. I did notice that the RPM was not constant - it sounded like it was oscillating between higher and lower RPMs, almost like the motor was turning "turn up". I've used rotary tools before and never heard of them doing this. The only thing I liked about this tool is the location of the power button at the top under the thumb. But in the end I thought the $25 HFT tool did the same for 1/3 the price and I sent it back. I'm not sure if I got a refurbished tool or a "fake" but I wasn't happy. By the way, all Dremel accessories (blade sharpeners, drill guides) fit on the HFT tool neck!
