Well it definitely works. A little tip: pay attention to which side of the lock the key side is facing. Seriously, believe me, my new car got stuck in a different state almost overnight (my key fob couldn't access the car's keyhole). Before tightening (shortening) the lock, make sure that the lock's key can access the lock at all. Well, if you happen to be a fool making the same mistake I did, and you have an ignition key and a manual steering wheel adjuster (not fancy stuff), you might be able to unlock your car for free. Turn the car key so the steering wheel can turn the wheels, and have someone hold the steering wheel to make the wheels turn (the direction depends on which side your anti-theft device keyhole is pointing). As you do this, grab the lock and try to move it so you can insert the key fob into the lock. If it works, congratulations! If this is not the case, sorry for the cost you incur.
