I bought 2 of these devices for 2 different properties. They work great but Simmons needs better seals, both pumps lose primer after a few minutes so I had to spend $40 on a 1 1/4 inch brass valve to put under the pump so I switch the valve every time out I use this so the water doesn't lose fill and fall back 20 feet. When you insert the valve you can wait a few weeks before using the pump again and the water will be there immediately to pump, no priming is required, just open the ball valve and pump, water will remain in the pump. You may be able to install a replacement skin kit to fix the bad leaking skin that comes with these pumps. In addition, one of the pumps was no longer working, it was not pumping water. These systems are very basic, the only problem is usually that the pad doesn't offer a snug fit, so I checked and the pad shell just needed to be bent a little to create more suction. Now it works great. So be warned, rather than doing a full replacement, try flexing the leather shell with your fingers first and that's a poor job unless the gasket is actually torn. Great pump so far, just make sure you have a gasket kit on hand.
