Initially, the SSD got very hot on the first few boots. After the first 2 weeks of use, the temperature dropped significantly; to nothing. The SSD cover only feels slightly warmer under load than the 128GB SSD that came with GPDWin2. I think the device just had to get used to it. The price is hard to swallow, but unless you plan on working with ridiculously large files, this SSD is worth it. when I bought it in 2018. Buy now) 5 stars. Edit: There is a list of identical Transcend 512GB 42mm SSDs for less than $90 here at Amazon. I can't vouch for the quality or reliability of this other list, but it's there. Just an additional note: For those who don't mind carrying around an external drive, the Samsung T5 1TB USB-C External Drive is now under $180.
