Terrible support - UPDATED

I installed this in a ThinkPad 25/Retro WWAN slot. It works but seems to interfere with battery management, making the laptop unreliable. This is a very strange problem that is hard to blame on the SSD, but it doesn't happen when the SSD is not in the laptop. I contacted Transcend support to try to figure this out and got complete gibberish in response. Or more specifically, they were words that might make sense if they were even relevant to my question. A completely useless answer that made it

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • It's ok

Best internal SSD for GPDWIN2

Initially, the SSD got very hot on the first few boots. After the first 2 weeks of use, the temperature dropped significantly; to nothing. The SSD cover only feels slightly warmer under load than the 128GB SSD that came with GPDWin2. I think the device just had to get used to it. The price is hard to swallow, but unless you plan on working with ridiculously large files, this SSD is worth it. when I bought it in 2018. Buy now) 5 stars. Edit: There is a list of identical Transcend 512GB 42mm SSDs

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • No automatic setup

I purchased a 64GB M.2 MX400 SSD in January 2018 specifically for use with the Windows paging file. I actually need more memory as I've usually physically used up all 16GB with so many apps open - and they run out when I ran without a paging file since Windows took forever to open the replaced app. With an M.2 SSD containing a swap file, apps wake up fast enough for my impatience. Best of all, the SSD Scope reports 97% life remaining after 4955 hours and 700GB of writes. At this rate I have 18…

Has been running in my FreeNAS for over 4 months now

So far these little drives have been rock solid. Much faster than the USB sticks I've used before. I "mirrored" them like USB drives. I can't say anything bad about them yet. My understanding is that the duty cycle of the FreeNAS startup disk is quite low since the filesystem is loaded into memory at boot time. So the discs are just written for the magazines and don't quote me but I think it just happens once a day or multiple times a day. Anyhow, I'm not sure if it would be good in a more…

Pros
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • Makes me angry

ASUS CN60 Chromebook pending loss of Chrome support update

The only tricky part was to temporarily move the WiFi card to go to the previous SSD. Google [Website: instructables.com X0n1T3 "Upgrade Asus Chromebox CN60/M004U"] for instructions with photos (but unfortunately only for RAM upgrade); There was a Lilliputian website that also updated the memory, but I couldn't think of a search string that would lead me to this URL (Revain prohibits URLs in reviews), so google "Asus Chromebox"] for a very similar one. 16GB of OEM storage is fine for ChromeOS…
