I plugged this in on purpose without installing drivers to see what happens, what breaks and how. Out of the box it worked fine as a Wi-Fi dongle on my Windows 10 computer, but not as a Bluetooth dongle. A WLAN monitoring program appears to be included on the CD, but this is not required for everyday use. Make sure to download and install the bluetooth drivers and you should be fine. I went from no bands to three bands with the last antenna I used and didn't have to tilt my computer weirdly to maintain the signal. Now if only Linux fixes the driver issue, it will work with a more modern kernel. Seriously, it's 2021, not 2004. I figured Linux device driver issues were a thing of the past.
