Inefficient Product Design: Recipe for Flat, Stale Champagne

This is a poor design and a product that doesn't perform well. First, there is a spring system over the rubber at the top of the stopper; You press it onto the neck of the bottle and the sides close around the neck. However, as soon as you let go of the bottle, the spring at the top pushes the cap back up, away from the bottle neck, resulting in a very weak seal. Also, the sides don't hold up very well and this combined with the spring causes the cap to pop out of the bottle if pressed at all. So don't move this bottle or the lid will come off and you'll have to search for it on the floor. Aside from keeping champagne sparkling, you really need something with a much tighter seal. This allows air to enter and the contents will become flat and stale after 1 day. I really recommend everyone not to waste their money on this product. I found two old rubber stoppers with a silly decorative cap at a flea market for $6. They work better than this.
