I've seen these laptop stands all over the internet looking very utilitarian and ugly. I didn't want to buy them because they would stand out in my house and look really bad. However, this thing blends into my wooden table and does the job. It's very portable and my laptop is MUCH larger than a Macbook and still holds it. I don't think I would jump next to it on a shaky floor, but other than that I think it will hold your laptop well and isn't an eyesore. I really like it and I would understand if I were you. This has helped me because my neck is constantly in the trash and cramps all the time when my laptop is on the table and I'm working on it for hours.
