Usually everything I solder I do with the naked eye and the part is more or less balanced on a flat surface; However, I recently ordered a Heltec ESP32 Wi-Fi/LoRa board (about the size of a tasty clubcracker) that came already with the pins already soldered. 36 unsoldered contacts. I can make a row of 7 or 8 pins, but 18 pins on each side, sitting next to the OLED screen and cable, I decided it's better not to check my odds, but just close my eyes testing. Also, the best way I've come up with is to put the pins in the breadboard and place the LoRa board on top of it. But then I was afraid that heat transfer would cause the breadboard to collapse. In short, I ordered this product, set it up right away and both problems (or my insecurities) went away. It works great for holding the board, and while the magnification isn't incredible, it's just enough not to get nervous at the tiny spacing between pins, hoping not to ruin the whole thing by rolling dice with the naked eye. This is for small projects. - It will most likely tip over if you try to hang the entire motherboard on it. It has enough weight to solder, which as far as I know should never require enough force or weight to destabilize a project set up correctly from the start. (?). It's metal, although it doesn't have standard wing nuts, but as someone else suggested, making a popsicle stick stand would be a comparatively terrible idea. .They are usually made of wood. And although I've never tested it myself; I've been told that using wood and a soldering iron together could increase the chances of an uncontrolled and potentially life-threatening fire. So is this article perfect? no Does it work within reason? Yes, to a large extent. Knuckle or slider adjustability varies a lot, but it's pretty easy to see where adjustment will be more difficult than other spots. Most importantly .& in my opinion .it's very cheap and if you bought it and overestimated its function then it's ok; because it is very cheap. There's no lost sleep at risk if you're already looking at it. And a lot less risk than popsicles. (?) It's just ridiculous anyway.
