Review on Exquisite Kutani Yaki Japanese Yunomi Rabbit: Traditional Craftsmanship and Delicate Design by Danny Rogers

Revainrating 1 out of 5

I am very sad to give this item a 1 star rating

As someone who loves Japanese porcelain and has a large collection of different items, I am very sad to give this item a 1 star rating to give rating. I was looking forward to this trophy. I liked the shape, colors, origin. I almost cried when I opened the box. The cup is mostly off-white with a dark gray spot on the rim. It doesn't have a green background (which I really liked) and the bunnies look like they were drawn by a kid who ran out of paint. When I put the cup on the table and take a few steps back, all I see are dark brown chopsticks. The rabbits almost completely disappear into the background. I understand the item is hand painted and of course I expect differences from the picture, but those differences should be in the lines of the design, not a missing background color or transparent color. I also expected the part below to be hand signed; Instead, there is a factory sticker/stamp under the glaze. I tried to research the stamp and couldn't find any connection to Kutani, which now makes me doubt its authenticity.
