This cable transfers video and audio from Displayport output to HDMI input. I use it in two separate installations. One is an HP Elitebook with a Displayport output to an HDMI input on a video projector. I use this for video presentations at remote locations where a portable setup is required. Both audio and video are sent over one cable, and then I route the projector's audio output to a separate sound system. My second use is with my main home system. I have a video server on my computer server that allows me to stream movies from it to an external video device. When I want to stream to a ceiling mounted video projector, I use the graphics card's display port output to the projector's HDMI input. I am sending the audio output from this HDMI input through the projector's Toslink audio output to the digital input of the preamp processor. Video is clear and crisp, and digital audio streams through any source. Basically it's Dolby Digital or DTS. Note that this cable only works in one direction. From Displayport output to HDMI input. The packaging says it doesn't work. All the displayports I have on my hardware are output only, so this makes sense. This is one of the prettiest cables I've ever seen. The very flexible cable itself is not the basic black color. This is a kind of copper-colored weaving. The connectors at each end are gold plated to prevent corrosion.
