The authors provide some great block patterns, but the real purpose of this book is to encourage shape-related ideas when designing blocks. For those who love sewing detail more than quilting itself (and for those who love quilting interesting blocks), this is a wonderful read to spark ideas. Photos are clear and easy to follow. The cutting directions are very simple (both in inches and centimeters). There are 60 blocks on offer, many based on well-known designs but with new or different ways to create attractive and interesting blocks. The book is well photographed with most of the model quilts shown complete enough to give a good idea of the finished product. All the blocks in this book are designed for 12 inch finished pieces, so even beginner quilters don't have to worry about fine details and a quilt can be easily made in a short amount of time. and templates for some of the shakier blocks. All in all, a nice addition to a quilt book collection.
